Petar Stefanov is Chairman of the Central Cooperative Union. He is a member of the Board of the International Cooperative Alliance and of the Executive Committee of the World Organization of Consumer Cooperatives. Vice President of Cooperative Europe - European Region of the International Cooperative Alliance. Vice-President of the European Association of Consumer Cooperatives EURO COOP.
He has been a member of the Management Board of BIA since 2014.
For the 50th anniversary of the European Association of Consumer Cooperatives (EURO COOP) in 2007, Petar Stefanov was awarded a commemorative medal for his active participation in the development of European cooperation through participation in the governing bodies of EURO COOP.
On October 22, 2010, he received the Order of Civil Merit First Degree. His award was presented by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov for exceptional merits in the development and establishment of the values and institutions of the cooperative movement in the country and two decades of continuous leadership in the field of economic life.
