The tourism sector is well prepared for the introduction of the euro in our country and Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone. This became clear at a discussion in Sofia, organized by the National Tourism Board. However, the lack of an information campaign, as well as the need for better communication with institutions, are factors that influence the emotional attitudes of society and doubts among small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.
The Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh, is committed to conducting a serious and concentrated campaign in the coming months. For his part, Deputy Minister of Finance, Metodi Metodiev, indicated that the Ministry of Finance has prepared a strategy regarding the eurozone, which envisages deployment in the form of over 100 events throughout Bulgaria, roadshows in the 28 main regional centers, events on the Black Sea coast and mountainous regions.
Polina Karastoyanova, Executive Director of the National Tourism Board, said that in the coming months they need to transform many systems in connection with the adoption of the euro in our country, so that our country can be prepared after its accession to the eurozone.
"At this point, the Tourism sector has a high degree of preparedness, since the majority of contracts and offers are based on the euro, of course, they also have their leva equivalent, as required by law," Polina Karastoyanova told Radio Sofia.
She added that in the coming months, meetings will be held in different cities so that all parties involved can be familiarized with the requirements and potential fears can be dispelled.
"Business as a whole is ready for the adoption of the European currency," noted the Deputy Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of the Bulgarian Industrial Chamber, Stanislav Popdonchev.
It is important to develop the instruction to the law on the introduction of the euro, regarding the work with accounting documents, as soon as possible. It is evident that this is one of the things that worries the tourism industry, Stanislav Popdonchev also commented.
