A new automobile tire recycling facility will open soon in Slanotran near Vidin, reported Dimitar Kolev, director of the factory and inventor of the new technology.

The factory is property of Commercial and Technological Company AD. The processing of the tires will be based on state of the art technology, developed by Bulgarian scientists and patented not only in Bulgaria, but also in the US, Canada, Russia, China. The useful products created in this way include steel and plaster.

If half of the tires used in Europe are processed, this would yield 7.5 million barrels of semi-refined fuel, 7.5 million barrels of gas equivalent fuel, 1 million tons of soot and 350 000 tons of steel. Every ton of soot saves 5 million tons of dangerous carbon dioxide emissions and two tons of natural gas. These tires could generate 500 MW of electric power, shows a study of PVReko, a leading company in England.
