Parliament failed to gather the necessary 121 votes "for" to reject the president's veto on amendments to the Law on Protection of Competition. 135 deputies voted, 98 MPs supported amendments, 36 were against them, and one abstention.
Lawmakers cut the duration between the first and second reading of the veto from 5 to 3 days to accelerate the adoption of the changes. First veto of President Rosen Plevneliev was not undermined in this Parliament.
Amendments to the Law on Protection of Competition provides companies with a turnover of over 50 million lev in the previous year to send its draft model contracts or general conditions in their supplier evaluation of the CPC.
Under the new texts retailers will no longer be allowed to charge the manufacturers and suppliers of anything, as a fee "birthday" fee "shelf" charge "the opening of a new store" advertising on the trolley and hipremarketa others.
The main motives for vetoing Plevneliev is that it is not appreciated what the effect of the legislation on consumers. Not clear whether the new rules will cause a rise in food prices.
