EMMA MARCEGAGLIA TO SUCCEED JÜRGEN R. THUMANN AS PRESIDENT OF BUSINESSEUROPE
BUSINESSEUROPE’s member federations chose Ms Emma Marcegaglia, former President of the Italian industry federation Confindustria and Managing Director of Marcegalia S.p.A. to succeed Jürgen R. Thumann as President of BUSINESSEUROPE from 1 July 2013.
The President is elected for a period of two years, renewable once. Jürgen R. Thumann, who successfully led the federation in the last 4 years, will end his second two-year term as President on 30 June 2013.
Jürgen R. Thumann, President of BUSINESSEUROPE said: “I am so pleased that Emma Marcegaglia will take the helm at BUSINESSEUROPE as new President of the organisation. She is a successful entrepreneur with broad Italian, European and international experience. In demanding economic times like these, she is the leader BUSINESSEUROPE needs.”
Emma Marcegaglia said: “I am honoured and pleased that I have been chosen to succeed Jürgen R. Thumann as President of the main horizontal European business organisation. The challenges the European economy is facing demand significant changes. I am looking forward to contributing constructively to the necessary refocusing of European policies on competitiveness and growth together with BUSINESSEUROPE’s Director General Markus J. Beyrer, his team and the 41 member federations of BUSINESSEUROPE.”
