BULGARIA SPENDS LEAST PER CAPITA FOR SOCIAL PROTECTION AND HEALTH
Bulgaria is among those EU countries that spend least means for social protection – EUR 675 per person, and for health – EUR 241, an analysis of Eurostat reds. The expenses of EU governments for the sectors “health” and “Social protection” make up around 55% of all government expenses.
Bulgaria is in the group of countries which keep close to or slightly exceed the 50% mark, together with the Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain and Greece. Highest is the portion of means allotted for social protection in Denmark – 25.2%. For Bulgaria this index is 12.9%. In the healthcare sector most means are provided in Denmark and Holland – 8.5%. Here again Bulgaria stands among the countries spending least – 4.6%.
