Maria Mincheva, Vice President of BIA, in "Business Start" on Bloomberg TV
The difficulties facing the European economy are related to access to people. An online platform can help remove administrative barriers to attracting third-country workers. In the EU, this has so far been at national level and a common European solution would give the bloc a competitive advantage in attracting staff. This will also be good for businesses that aim to recruit staff and administrative requirements to happen faster, said Maria Mincheva, deputy chairwoman of BIA, in the program "Business Start" with host Roselina Petkova.
The EU Talent Pool is an online platform that would build on national employment services, through which people from third countries would be able to apply more easily for jobs in the bloc, Mincheva said. Currently, employers are struggling to find staff, partly because of administrative burdens in individual member states. This proposal does not provide new ways into the EU, but it does allow public employment agencies from different countries to post job ads in one place. This tool would help labour supply and demand.
The aim is to facilitate the connection between job seekers and job offerers, and the guest explained that other countries have sophisticated portals through which the job search and offer is done. In the EU this has been at national level, and a common European solution would give the bloc a competitive advantage in attracting staff.
The difficulties facing the European economy are related to access to people - ageing population, natural migration flows. The green and digital transitions are creating a different demand and reorientation of economies, all of which challenge companies and need to be addressed by the EU.
By putting all the information in one place, Europe will be able to compete with other major countries attracting staff. Europe remains the best place to live and a magnet for many migrants, but the problem comes from the fact that each Member State has different regulations and laws on work and migration, which complicates access. This hinders companies that want faster access, and such an online tool would remove administrative obstacles.
