How long will the rise in food prices continue?
The increase in the prices of basic foods is visible and felt by absolutely everyone. Whether this increase is the result of speculation or is it a logical consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and especially the war in Ukraine.
"The price of BGN 5 per liter of cooking oil is not speculation. I have learned that Minister Ninova had met with the Oilseed Oil Producers Association in Bulgaria and convinced herself that the production price was not BGN 2, as someone had obviously misled her, and since sunflowers, corn and other crops are commodities, at the moment when there is a global shortage, they jumped by more than 40% of their cost on the market," said the Executive Director of the Food Drink Bulgaria Association Yana Ivanova in an interview.
