Bulgaria will suffer from Russia's ban on the export of a number of goods, mainly if they relate to energy equipment or are spare parts needed for a number of industries in Bulgaria that still use Russian equipment. This is among the conclusions of the experts sought by BTA in connection with today's decision of the Russian government. They agreed that their comments were not based on the exact list of goods banned from exporting from Russia, but on the information published about it in the media.
Veselin Iliev, Director General of the International Economic Relations Center at the Bulgarian Industrial Association, told BTA that he was not aware of the full list of goods banned from exporting from Russia, and that restrictions on timber exports would affect Bulgarian producers, especially in the field of construction. We will also suffer because of the restrictions on the export of railway and metro equipment. Our country will also be affected by the ban on the export of all spare parts for mechanical engineering, including the defense industry.
According to Iliev, the ban on the export of turbines will not affect the energy sector, including our nuclear power plant, which has spare parts for years to come.
