The business goes on strike on October 19th. The reason is the jump in electricity prices.
Today we are protesting to show that the problem with electricity prices is serious, to warn that if adequate, swift and timely measures are not taken, the consequences will only deepen. And this increased price of electricity will be transferred to the prices of goods and services, said Maria Mincheva, Vice President of BIA.
According to her, “there should be monetary compensation for all non-residential subscribers who are on the free market. We, as employers’ organizations, have united around the proposal to be 75% of the amount, which exceeds the forecast for EWRC of BGN 119/mWh. This amount varies in each of the months. Other tools are possible to influence the market, but they unfortunately require a functioning parliament. Once again, we find that Bulgaria does not have legislation that is adaptable to crises”, said Mincheva.
“Our task is to put the problems of our members on the table at a sufficiently early stage to be able to respond adequately. We go out to show that the problem is serious, not speculation. It is the state that has enough information on the volume and reliability of whether there are funds, where they are located and what are the legal ways for these funds to reach the business. We are there to ask the questions,” Mincheva said.
She also stressed that the protest is not political but economic.
