For the first time in more than a year, the labor market is moving and job advertisements are increasing by 30%, according to data from one of the largest companies working with human resources. What is new, however, is that more and more people prefer teleworking instead of going to the office. The trend is so strong that job offers that do not allow remote work are declined.

However, most advertisements do not automatically mean secure jobs, on the contrary, some areas are still difficult to access even for highly educated staff. Such is the case of Gavrail Gavrailov.

"I have been in the labor office since the beginning of February and am still actively looking for a job as a sociologist, possibly as a university lecturer, but unfortunately, this is an area with huge layoffs, which creates difficulties, especially with "social entrepreneurship" as a profile, a relatively new program, " Gavrail Gavrailov explains.

Gavrail had previously worked in the field of tourism, and despite the lack of options in academia, he did not give up.

"2021 is a turning point, I had an idea to begin a small business, but until recently, the environment did not involve such ventures, simply because of the administrative autocracy," Gavrail adds.

Increased demand for employees is logical after the end of the pandemic, experts explain.

"Since the start of covid in the spring of 2020, there has been a very large drop in job offers. After covid caused damage to employers and business and opportunities and plans were canceled, we can now observe the job trends", Director of "Personnel Selection in "Adeko-Bulgaria" Nadezhda Vasileva states.

After covid, however, people are dramatically changing their expectations toward their future employers.

"Some of the candidates have returned to their hometowns, vacated their apartments and homes, and have come to realize how convenient it is for them to work remotely. The companies are trying to adapt to this change," Nadezhda Vasileva adds.

There are more and more cases in which job applicants turn down offers due to the lack of opportunity for them to work remotely.

"Only today there are over 3,000 job advertisements," Tomcho Tomov from the Bulgarian Industrial Association informs.

Employers also expect people who have recently returned to Bulgaria to go abroad again, which means that a crisis in the labor market is looming.

"From the business's viewpoint, there are extreme disparities by industry. The thesis that numerous workers returned to Bulgaria due to the covid pandemic is not fully supported. Some of the people who stay at home and aren't looking for jobs are in the gray economy. "One of the sectors in critical condition due to the lack of staff is tourism," BIA states.

"And again, it was a mistake to first meddle with the human capital; we must first look at the possibilities for increasing efficiency, reducing non-profitable activities.. Above all, we need to rethink the efficiency of the organization of work", Tomcho Tomov concludes.

BIA advises employers to rethink their work organization and try to preserve their quality employees.
