The Executive President of BIA Radosvet Radev met the new Commercial and Economic Counsellor of Bulgaria to Bern (Switzerland) – Veselka Lalova- Mütze. The meeting was held on the 10th of August 2018 on the premises of the Bulgarian Industrial Association.
In the discussion for opportunities for partnership participated also Miroslav Burnev, future representative of Bulgaria’s Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Vesselin Iliev, Director General of International Economic Relations Center at BIA.
Among the main problems, which Bulgarian attaches are facing abroad is the lack of economic information about companies and their demand and supply. It turns out that the overlapping with previous commercial and economic counsellors, who should convey their experience and established business contacts, is very short and sometimes even absent. Nevertheless, Ms. Mütze aims to be proactive, to work hard in finding future investors and developing the DOMINO project.
One of the possible initiatives for cooperation is the specialized exhibition for machines and technologies in the field of metalworking MachTech&InnoTech, held in April in Sofia, as well as partnerships within Enterprise Europe Network.
The Swiss Confederation is a promising trade and economic partner for Bulgaria. Between January and March 2017 exports to Switzerland amounted to 25.1 million Euro, while imports from Switzerland amounted to 47.4 million Euro.
“This meeting might be the first one, but won’t be the last. It is the beginning of out cooperation, which I hope will be useful for Bulgaria’s economic development. I believe there is untapped potential in the field of economic relations between the two countries,” said Radosvet Radev at the end of the meeting.
