BUSINESSEUROPE’s member federations chose Ms Emma Marcegaglia, former President of the Italian industry federation Confindustria and Managing Director of Marcegalia S.p.A. to succeed Jürgen R. Thumann as President of BUSINESSEUROPE from 1 July 2013.
The President is elected for a period of two years, renewable once. Jürgen R. Thumann, who successfully led the federation in the last 4 years, will end his second two-year term as President on 30 June 2013.
Jürgen R. Thumann, President of BUSINESSEUROPE said: “I am so pleased that Emma Marcegaglia will take the helm at BUSINESSEUROPE as new President of the organisation. She is a successful entrepreneur with broad Italian, European and international experience. In demanding economic times like these, she is the leader BUSINESSEUROPE needs.”
Emma Marcegaglia said: “I am honoured and pleased that I have been chosen to succeed Jürgen R. Thumann as President of the main horizontal European business organisation. Beyrer, his team and the 41 member federations of BUSINESSEUROPE.”
