BIA STANDPOINT ON AMENDMENTS TO THE LAW ON FOREIGNERS IN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA

BIA has sent its standpoint on the Draft law to amend and supplement the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria to the National Assembly.

The issue of the legislative framework for labour migration has always been of significant importance for BIA as a representative organisation of employers at national level.

The issue related to the access of highly qualified specialists to the Bulgarian labour market is of key and growing importance for Bulgarian employers in various fields of activity.

For years the Bulgarian Industrial Association has consistently drawn attention to the problems related to the shortage of labour; to the improvement and facilitation of the procedure for the recruitment of foreigners; to the possibilities for reducing the number of documents required for issuing permits for access to the labour market to persons from third countries; and to the exploration of the possibilities for new legal grounds for access to the labour market, etc.

In connection with the above, we support all legislative efforts in this direction. We believe that the proposals in the draft are balanced and constructive, responding to the most common practical problems faced by businesses.
