NSI: BUSINESS SERVICES PRODUCTION RISES 8.1% YEAR-ON-YEAR IN MAY
According to data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI), in May 2026 the overall production index for business services remained unchanged compared with the previous month. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.
Compared with May 2025, the calendar-adjusted index increased by 8.1%, according to preliminary data.
Business services include the following sectors under NACE Rev. 2: H – Transportation and Storage; I – Accommodation and Food Service Activities; J – Information and Communication; L – Real Estate Activities; M_STS – Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (a specific grouping in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/2152); and N – Administrative and Support Service Activities.
Monthly changes
In May 2026, increases compared with the previous month were recorded in the following sectors: Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities – 2.4%; Accommodation and Food Service Activities – 2.0%; and Information and Communication – 1.0%.
Declines were recorded in Administrative and Support Service Activities – 6.8%; Real Estate Activities – 1.5%; and Transportation and Storage – 0.3%.
Annual changes
Year-on-year growth in production was recorded in the following sectors: Administrative and Support Service Activities – 20.6%; Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities – 15.4%; Information and Communication – 11.6%; Transportation and Storage – 3.2%; and Accommodation and Food Service Activities – 1.7%.
A decline of 11.6% was recorded in Real Estate Activities.
