EUROPEAN MIGRATION FORUM – 10TH MEETING
Harnessing migrants’ skills in the EU
Brussels, 27-28 November 2025
Background & Main Objectives
The European Migration Forum (EMF), organised by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), is a platform for dialogue[1] between civil society and EU policy-makers on issues related to migration, asylum and integration. The forum enhances coordination and cooperation between key players in these areas. It helps policy-makers better understand the challenges that civil society organisations and social partners face. The forum will also identify ways to support efforts in addressing the needs of refugees and migrants.
This year's EMF, "Harnessing migrants’ skills in the EU", will allow participants to discuss how to promote the skills of non-EU nationals, help companies address job shortages and protect migrants’ working rights.
The EMF will focus on three topics:
- combating trafficking in human beings for the purpose of labour exploitation;
- protecting migrant workers whilst fighting against their illegal employment;
- EU funds for labour market integration: lessons learned & the way forward.
Participation in the Forum meeting is by invitation only - the call for interested civil society organisations is now closed.
The results of the selection of participants will be communicated to the applicants mid-October 2025.
[1] The European Migration Forum employs a participatory approach, which entails the close involvement of civil society organisations in the preparation and organisation of meetings. Conclusions and summary reports from earlier meetings can be found under: http://www.eesc.europa.eu/en/sections-other-bodies/other/european-migration-forum/events.
[2] The travel costs of a participant to the forum will not be covered if they are based and/or are travelling from an overseas territory of an EU Member State.
