LABOUR COSTS INCREASED BY 13.2% IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2025
In the second quarter of 2025 compared to the second quarter of 2024, the total labour costs of employers per hour worked by their employees increased by 13.2% (preliminary data). In industry the increase was 14.0%, in services – 11.9%, and in construction – 16.2%.
The highest growth in total labour costs was recorded in the economic sectors “Administrative and support service activities” – 18.1%, “Arts, entertainment and recreation” – 17.7%, and “Mining and quarrying” – 17.2%.
Labour costs for wages and salaries per hour worked rose by 13.4%, while other labour costs (excluding wages and salaries) increased by 12.3%. By economic sector, the change in wage and salary costs compared to the same period of the previous year ranged from 18.8% in “Arts, entertainment and recreation” to 7.0% in “Accommodation and food service activities”.
