The Bulgarian Hotel Association (BHA), representing over 30% of overnight stays and over 50% of revenues in the tourism industry, expresses its categorical disagreement with the currently ongoing large-scale repair activities on the Trakia motorway.

In an official letter to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Tourism and Recreation Agency Yordan Valchev, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov and the Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh, the BHA warns that the ongoing repairs directly threaten the normal flow of traffic to the Black Sea resorts on the eve of the active summer season.

"It is unacceptable to create artificial obstacles to the movement of tourists in the midst of preparations for the summer season. Kilometer-long queues and loss of time will be the hallmark of the Bulgarian summer!" said Veselin Danev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Hotel Association.
