For the eighth time, Coca-Cola HBC has been ranked as the world’s most sustainable beverage company by the 2024 Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index. The ranking was previously known as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and is published by S&P Global*. The 2025 S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook ranking system is now publicly available and confirms the company’s top position globally. Coca-Cola HBC’s efforts were also recognized by CDP with a positive double-A rating for climate and water.

“We are continuously evolving our business model to achieve successful and long-term progress, implementing a clear and strategic approach to sustainability that makes our business more reliable. Every year we make significant progress towards our ambitious and measurable sustainability goals. In 2025, the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) endorsed our NetZeroby40 plan, which for the first time includes Egypt,” said Zoran Bogdanovic, CEO of Coca-Cola HBC, adding: “We know that sustainability initiatives are increasingly important to our customers. They share that they value our sustainability expertise, and our joint initiatives contribute to the growth of their business, which in turn helps accelerate ours. We thank our colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners for helping us continue on our path and discover a more sustainable future.”

In Bulgaria – just last year, Coca-Cola HBC recorded growth, reaching 411 million liters of beverages produced at the company’s plants in Kostinbrod and Bankya. Innovation and sustainable practices remain at the heart of its operations, with both production centers operating entirely with electricity from renewable sources. Over the past two years, Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria has invested over BGN 20 million in infrastructure projects aimed at modernization, resource optimization and increasing energy efficiency.

In the spirit of its long-term sustainable development strategy, the company in our country has taken another important step – reducing direct carbon emissions per unit of produced beverage by 35% compared to 2021 and increasing the number of its energy-efficient refrigerated display cases on the market by one third over the past two years. In addition to its internal processes, Coca-Cola HBC also invests in the protection of natural resources. The company has joined the partnership of WWF-CEE and the Coca-Cola Foundation – “Living Danube” to help protect one of the most important water basins in Europe. This initiative aims to improve the ecological condition of the Danube River and support local communities along its riverbank.

In Bulgaria, Coca-Cola HBC is also behind the long-standing campaign “My Green City”. In its latest edition in 2024, volunteers cleaned 1500 acres of polluted areas near water bodies and collected tons of textile, plastic, paper, glass and metal waste separately from eight locations in the country.
