DO WORKERS IN OUR COUNTRY HAVE ENOUGH DAYS OFF AND WHERE IN EUROPE DO YOU GET THE LEAST AND WHERE THE MOST REST?
August is the longest working month in our country this year. Where in Europe do you rest the least and where do you rest the most and are there enough days off for workers in our country?
The leading country in terms of number of days off in the world is Nepal - it has been there for more than a month. And in Europe, the most vacationing countries are Cyprus, Slovakia and Greece. In Bulgaria, they average 12 per year, which is the average level in Europe. However, if a holiday coincides with non-working days, the first weekday after them becomes a holiday. So for this year, there are 15 days off in our country.
This is a very good achievement of the Bulgarian legislation, even more so because it replaced a rather dysfunctional regulation from the previous years, when public holidays had to be worked out. According to employers' organizations, the number of non-working public holidays in our country does not need to be changed.
Jasmina Sarivanova, chief social dialogue expert at BIA
"It is normal for each country to have its public holidays, it makes sense, it unites people in one country, and we believe that the holidays defined in the labor code are neither more nor less than in other member states", commented more Sarivanova.
Although working on holidays also brings additional pay, not everyone is in favor of resting so often, a peculiar survey of Euronews Bulgaria showed.
