The First European Best Learning Game Competition will take place in the period 15 March - 15 May 2010 and seeks to expand the understanding and capabilities of developing and using Serious Game applications for learning and training and to promote a debate of Serious Games as factor of regional development. In line with these competition objectives, the Serious Games are being defined as software applications following a game-like design that are intended to be used for learning and training.

 

The competition is part of a project entitled "European Network for Transfer of Knowledge and Dissemination of Best Practices in the Innovative Field of Serious Games." (LUDUS - www.ludus@project.eu), co-funded by the SEE Transnational Cooperation Programme and is being executed by a Consortium including members of Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, and Hungary.

 

Game or game idea submission categories:

 

  • Best non-professional learning game
  • Best professional learning game

Selection criteria:

 

  • Problem and solution / impact of the topic on its field and on society
  • Excellence in game and learning design
  • Playability
  • Technical excellence

 

Physical entities, companies, organizations and students interested in developing serious games can take part in the competition.

 

Participation is free of charge!

 

The winners in the competition will be announced at a ceremony that will be held during a European conferences organized by the LUDUS project in Ioannina, Greece on 7-9 July 2010 (for more information visit: http://www.serious-gaming.info/5_-SGEED-2010 ). The conference provides the participants with a valuable opportunity to present their games to educators, the general public and various stakeholders of Serious Games and the opportunity to establish a network, as well as to benchmark their work and ideas in a collaborative surrounding.
