NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECOGNITION OF QUALIFICATIONS
A National conference on recognition of qualifications shall be held on 18 and 19 November 2010. The conference is financed by the European Commission as part of the “Life Long Learning” Programme and “Education and Culture” Directorate General. The project is being executed by the National Center for Information and Documentation. The forum objective is to discuss burning issues in the recognition of qualifications concerning Higher Education and possibilities for enhancing cooperation among the responsible institutions and organizations.
The current situation and problems before both recognition of foreign qualifications in Bulgaria and recognition of national qualifications within EU member states shall be discussed at the conference. Moreover, the discussion shall also cover specific issues concerning education certificates authenticity and education institutions legitimacy, the problem of so-called “diploma factories”, recognition of joint educational degrees etc.
The participants shall be provided with recommendations for amendments and additions to the Convention on Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region (Ratified by law, State Gazette, Issue No 25 from 28 March 2000), known as the Lisbon Convention. They shall be also informed about the system for recognition of higher education qualification in Germany. Representatives of Bulgarian universities and colleges, state institutions, expert bodies on regulated occupations, employers’ organizations and foreign experts from the European Network of National Information Centers on Academic Recognition and Mobility (the ENIC/NARIC Network.) shall take part in the national conference.
