"The tendency for a drastic indebtedness rise of the non-financial sector enterprises in the economy continued in 2008 as well.


2008 is characterized with a stable rise of the GDP of 6 percent and an increased investment activity which was backed up by a relatively stable credit resource value. The interest rates of the newly-granted credit loans ranged between 8-10 percent (for credit loans in EUR) and 9-11 percent (for credit loans in BGN). The debts reached 160 billion BGN towards the end of the year. The rise is 38.3 billion BGN, or 31.5 percent in comparison to the end of 2007. In comparison with 2004, the debts have risen with 104.7 billion BGN, or 2.9 times.

 

After the record-breaking indebtedness rise in 2007, 2008 witnessed decrease in the indebtedness rate. This occurs when there is GDP growth and the interest rate is not particularly high ....."
