ONE THOUSAND LARGE COMPANIES IN 1-HOUR STANDSTILL TO PROTEST HIGHER ELECTRICITY PRICES
More than 1000 large companies from various sectors in Bulgaria have joined today a protest of employers against plans to raise electricity prices for the industry by 13 to 20%. Enterprises stopped operations for an hour in the morning. Despite progress in the dialogue with the authorities businesses believe it is not enough so they have proceeded with the protest planned a week ago. For the first time in Bulgaria’s history since 1989 both employers and workers from the private sector have gone on protest demanding that siphoning of the energy sector should stop and that the sector should be stabilized.
