The South Stream project cannot happen in its initial version due to the clash with EU regulations for liberal market, said Deputy Premier Tomislav Donchev for the BNR. According to him Bulgaria still stands good chances for receiving Russian gas through the Black Sea.

Donchev is of the opinion that the question is whether part of the project, its maritime portion in particular, could still be considered relevant from the technical and economy points of view. "I would not like to comment from the political point of view, because if on the Bulgarian shore, as part of the territory of the EU, a Russian pipe comes out, and if gas could be purchased, that in my opinion, but also according to the analysis of several experts, could in no way be counter to European legislature" Tomislav Donchev further said.
