“There is a need to adopt a gradual increase of the retirement age and the length of service that is bearable for both the people and the market,” said Dimitar Brankov, deputy chairperson of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, speaking for Radio FOCUS.

According to him, there are many problems in the pension-insurance model in Bulgaria that need to be corrected.

“There are different options for the required length of service and retirement age. These decisions are inevitable because as you know they are part of the so-called specific recommendations for Bulgaria made by the European Commission (EC) every year.

The Industrial Association backs a gradual, bearable for both the people and the market, increase of the retirement age and the length of service of up to 2 months to begin with,” Dimitar Brankov said further.

He added that the incrimination of the concealed social insurances and the additional pension insurances will be among the other issues that will be tabled for discussion at the meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy today.
