FDI TO BULGARIA DOWN BY EUR 505 MILLION JAN-OCT 2014
Foreign direct investment in Bulgaria amounted to EUR 804.9 billion from January 1 to October 31, 2014, the Bulgarian National Bank announced. This is an EUR 505 million decrease as compared to the same period last year.
The largest investor in the period from January to October in Bulgaria is the Netherlands with EUR 225.8 million.
On the other hand, Bulgarian firms have invested the most in Germany with EUR 214.7 million.
As a result of the dire results, the central bank had to revise downwards its previous FDI expectations.
For the period from July to September, investments in Bulgaria are 13 times less than what was announced earlier. Instead of the EUR 354.3 million, foreign investments fell to EUR 26.6 million.
The situation was similar for the period from April to June, where instead of EUR 304.5 million, foreign investment fell by 6 times to EUR 52.2 million.
