KRISTALINA GEORGIEVA: EUROPE IS AWAKENING ITS DORMANT FUNDS
The European Commission and personally its president Jean-Claude Juncker are eager to awaken the dormant money in Europe, European Commission Vie-President and Commissioner for budget and human resources Kristalina Georgieva said in a video link during the forum "Bulgaria and the World in Development", organized by the Manager magazine.
"The urrent investment plan for Europe is worth EUR 315 billion and is based on three elements. First, it involves the creation of a European fund for strategic investments based in the European Investment Bank with funding from the European Commission and the EIB. Second it inludes a project portfolio, approved by the European Investment Committee and third - expert assistance to identify and remove obstacles to the realization of selected investment projects and to improve the business environment in Europe, said Kristalina Georgieva.
She added that the idea is that the European institutions should back promising projects in key areas and thus generate security for private investors.
