BULGARIA'S REVENUE AGENCY TO CHECK 3000 FIRMS
Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency (NRA) will investigate about 3000 firms whose daily turnovers showed a drastic change following the mandatory uplink of all cash registers with the agency earlier this month, private channel bTV reported on April 17.
Bulgarian firms were required to link their registers online with an NRA database, allowing for the real-time tracking of commercial activity, by April 2. The agency now receives a constant stream of data from about 300 000 cash registers.
After the deadline, the NRA carried out about 10 000 random checks during a period of 10 days and found no cash registers not linked to the database, the report quoted an agency spokesperson as saying.
As a follow-up, the agency's inspectors will now dig deeper in the financial reports of the 3000 firms that showed a drastic increase or decrease in their daily turnover since linking to the NRA database, the report said.
