MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THEY HAVE RIGHT TO TERMINATE LOAN WITHOUT GIVING REASONS WITHIN 14 DAYS AFTER SIGNING IT: POLL
1,699 consumers have joined the online poll about their rights when they use financial services, Emilia Elchinova, chief director of Market Control DG in Consumer Protection Commission, announced at a press conference, while presenting the opinion poll results, FOCUS News Agency reported.
The poll concludes that many people do not know they can get full and detailed information about taking out a loan. More than half of respondents do not know they have right to terminate the loan without giving reasons within 14 days after signing it.
As to the offering of distance financial services, many are not aware that they can refuse such a service, if they did not ask for it explicitly.
58% of consumers do not know they can refuse to pay for a distance financial service, if they did not ask for it explicitly.
52% of respondents know there should be thorough information about loans in bank offices. More than half of respondents are aware how much they will pay at the end of the period.
80% of respondents say they carried out research of banks, which is positive.
63% say they can approach Consumer Protection Commission when there is a dispute between them and banks, which is positive as well.
