The tailoring enterprises are producing and exporting less and less



A general analysis of the sector development in Bulgaria conducted by SFB Capital Market Ltd. showed that the production of the “Tailoring Industry” subsection decreased with 24.1 percent during the third quarter of 2009. The drop was 26.8 percent during the first nine months of the year. The import decrease peak occurred during the third quarter. 29 percent less tailoring products were imported in Bulgaria in comparison to the same period in 2008. There was a one-forth decrease for the nine months by September. The export also continued to drop. It reached 15.3 percent in the third quarter and 21.6 percent for the nine-month period. The major part of the production in Bulgaria was done with materials supplied by the customer; hence, the clothing producers’ sales on a national scale were scarce. The sales amounted to 1.7 percent from the production of the enterprises surveyed.


We Import Two Times Less Timber and Joinery Products


A general analysis of the sector development in Bulgaria conducted by SFB Capital Market Ltd. showed that the production of the “Wood-processing Industry” subsection decreased with 35.9 percent during the third quarter of 2009. There was a 40 percent decrease during the first nine months of the year. The import decreasing rate for the third quarter is slower – 47 percent. There was a decrease of 2.1 for the first six months of the year; hence the decline for the nine-month period by September was two times. The decrease in the export during the third quarter was less as well – 10 percent and 14.9 percent for the first six months of the year. The decrease for the nine-month period was 13.1 percent. The monthly survey results showed that the sales of the enterprises in the survey were fewer in all products observed, expect for the veneer, which were more in the third quarter.


Furniture Production Shrank with 36 Percent during the Third Quarter



A general analysis of the sector development in Bulgaria conducted by SFB Capital Market Ltd. showed that the production of the “Furniture Industry” subsection decreased with 36 percent during the third quarter of 2009. The decrease was 34.7 percent during the first nine months of the year. The actual import during the third quarter continued to decrease quickly and was 44.1 percent less in comparison with 2008. The export decrease during the third quarter was 20.3 percent. The import decrease is 2.3 times more in comparison to the export decrease; hence the over 10 million EUR positive balance. The major part of the furniture produced in Bulgaria is meant for export. The producers, who participated in the survey, sold 17 percent of their production on the national market during the third quarter.
