Bulgaria gets 3,4 billion levs from the EU development funds

Bulgaria is in smooth water after the new European Commission was approved by the European Parliament. Brussels greenlighted the allotment of the European funds that our country has been waiting for since its EU accession.

"If the mayors are responsible and not corrupt, Bulgaria can absorb 3.4 billion levs," PM Boyko Borissov broke the good news.

Brussels has send two letters, in which the EU gives positive assessment to the Regional Development and Technical Assistance programs, which means that the Bulgarian companies applying for financing under different European projects can be allotted the funds.

It is expected that the European Commission will approve five more programs.

"After four months of hard work, the country has made up for a two-year delay," said Vice PM Simeon Djankov.
He emphasized that Sergei Stanishev's cabinet twice failed to receive the necessary  assessments, because the submitted documents were unacceptable to the EC.
