Those trading abroad performed the best during the fourth quarter of 2009

Exporters listed on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) were the first of all public companies to recover. Those trading abroad performed the best during the fourth quarter of 2009, Pari daily's inquiry among leading BSE analysts shows.

According to them, the revival in the eurozone economies had a positive effect on Bulgaria's exporters. The worst hit companies by the global downturn were in the machine building, construction and real estate sectors. The data were not a surprise for the specialists.

Their forecast before the reports were submitted was that exporting companies will first show sings of recovery. The last three months of 2009 revealed the main problems as well: high intercompany indebtedness, increased volume of debts, contracted profits and problems with bond issues.

These issues, however, had no impact on stock trade. The main reason for the low activity on BSE is the low liquidity of companies.
