PM BORISSOV: DANUBE REGION NEEDS DEEDS, NOT WORDS
"Bulgaria fully supports the development of an EU strategy for the Danube region, but this area needs more deeds than words," PM Boyko Borissov said during an EU summit in Budapest, dedicated on the "Danube strategy" that will be adopted in 2011.
"I will show you what I mean by "more deeds" during the meeting with my Romanian counterpart Emil Boc in Sofia today," Borissov said.
"The common declaration that was signed during the meeting in Budapest demonstrates a European solidarity on the part of all countries that took part in the forum. The implementation of the regional plan will contribute to the full development of the Danube region's economic and social potential and will thus fit in the context of the more complex strategy Europe 2020," he added.
"The long-term interests of Bulgaria in the Danube region are connected with the construction and modernization of transport and energy infrastructure, environment protection, development of scientific research and technologies, as well as the development of tourism and cultural cooperation in the region," PM Borissov said during the meeting of the Danube region countries in Budapest that took place before the EU's "Danube Strategy" summit.
During his visit to Budapest, Borissov had talks with his Hungarian counterpart Gordon Bajnai to ensure Hungary's support of Bulgaria's request to the European Commission for extra financing for the decommissioning of NPP Kozloduy's power units One to Four.
