Trade turnover between Bulgaria and Romania totalled 2.8 billion euro in 2010, Romania's economy ministry said as quoted by news agency BTA.

The states recorded a 39 per cent annual growth in bilateral trade in the first quarter of 2011, the statement said.

As of March 31 2011, Romania had registered 1307 joint Romanian-Bulgarian companies with a combined invested capital of 32.2 million euro, while a further 272 firms with Romanian capital were registered in Bulgaria.

On July 18 2011, Bulgaria's Economy Minister Traicho Traikov held a meeting with Romanian counterpart Ion Ariton to discuss bilateral trade and economic co-operation, according to the statement.
