Some BGN 5 mln will be saved from courier services after the launching of the e-system for document exchange between five state administrations, stated Prime Minister Boyko Borissov after the demonstration of the system's operation. Currently, it connects the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, the Energy Office and the Ministry of Interior along with the National Road Infrastructure Agency and the state-owned enterprise Bulgarian Air Traffic Services Authority. It is planned that in 7-8 months all departments should exchange documents electronically.

"The introduction of an electronic data exchange system will enable the imposition of penalties on the state administration for ill-implemented work because it will be easier to establish the date of a document, as well as who should be held responsible," commented also the Prime Minister. The integration of the systems is part of the project for introduction of an e-government. It will be funded with over BGN 300 mln grant under the operational programmes Regional Development and Administrative Capacity.

Electronic data interchange system will be also introduced in the healthcare and education sectors, as well as in the National Social Security Institute and the National Revenue Agency. By the end of the year, the MTITC will equip the judicial system with a software for online court summon delivery. PM Borissov demanded an emergency meeting with the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria in order local authorities to join this e-system.

Energy Minister Traicho Traikov proposed that a free electronic signature certificate should be issued to each Bulgarian citizen. Currently, five companies are providing this service at the price of about BGN 60 - 100.
