Main objective of the project: Developing an integrated approach to introducing artificial intelligence into mentoring in dual training to meet the needs of the labor market and support skills development in the context of Industry 4.0.

The rapid development of artificial intelligence in recent years has clearly intensified not only the discussions on its applied aspects, but also the efforts of Member States, organizations in different sectors (business, government, social) and fields (education, industry, IT, healthcare, etc.), as well as individuals to explore and adapt its transformative effects on social and economic development. The relevance of the application of AI in different contexts is undoubted and will continue to grow in the coming years. In the context of the rapidly evolving AI landscape, focused efforts are needed to keep dual education’s ability to prepare professionals for the jobs of the future up-to-date. The mission of the partnership is therefore to enhance the potential of work-based learning to bridge the skills gap by implementing an integrated approach to introducing AI into the mentoring framework.

Project target groups: Mentors of dual education students and trainers of mentors.

Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the working methods of dual education mentors will lead to a reduction in skills mismatches, while being relevant to evolving job conditions and workplace transformations, in the following ways:

  1. The involvement of mentors in the project and the use of AI in their work with dual education students will promote lifelong learning, enhance their career development and help them apply innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in their work with students.
  2. AI will enrich the experience of dual education learners, support the development of their digital skills and contribute to the acquisition of skills needed for successful implementation in the labour market. This will facilitate the transition from education to work and ensure that students’ skills meet the needs of employers.

Project activities: The partnership will develop an AI in Mentoring training programme and training materials for mentors and mentor trainers. We will also develop the overall infrastructure for its implementation at national level. We will train national mentor trainers in dual education, who will conduct two training seminars – on AI literacy and AI in mentoring. Learning content (Handbook) and additional materials (Resource Library) will be provided for mentor trainers in dual education and mentors in dual education themselves, as well as online support sessions.

Expected impact: Increasing digital skills and mentoring competencies in the context of AI, accelerating the transition process from education to the labor market and better matching with employers' needs.
