GEORGI RAKOVSKI MILITARY ACADEMY

The Military Academy “G.S. Rakovski” is the oldest military university in Bulgaria. It was grounded on the 1st of March, 1912, by the law adopted by the 15th National Assembly. It has contributed not only to the formation of the officers’ corpus but also to the foundation and establishment of the European values in the Bulgarian state.

The Military Academy “G.S. Rakovski” is a leading national educational institution with long-standing traditions in higher education for preparing officers and students in a variety of Masters Degrees. It offers state of the art academic programs, which are coupled with leadership and civil responsibility in the field of security and defense.

A priority objective and tradition in the Academy’s activities is the quality education in modern and advanced technologies, role-playing games, the conduction of case-studies and interactive lectures. Partners in the study programs are educational and research institutions from both the country and abroad.

The Military Academy “G.S.Rakovski” provides the following programs:

• Bulgarian soldiers and civilians can acquire a Master’s Degree in 15 accredited specialties in the professional fields “National Security”, “Psychology” and “Military Case”.
• Doctoral students can pursue their PhD thesis in 11 scientific specialties in the field of the military relations.
• Foreign students and postgraduates, citizens of the EU, members of the European Economic Areas and other countries- in accordance to the Bulgarian legislation and bilateral agreements, can also apply for the programs at the university.

The Academy organizes and conducts over 80 specialized courses for acquiring and enhancing the qualification of expertise in the fields of national security and defense from various states, public institutions and departments.

Our alumni students acquire a diploma for a completed higher education, a European diploma certificate, a certificate of professional qualification, a certificate for additional training or specialization and other basic documents in compliance with the state requirements.

The Academy has been selected by the SCIS as a training organization in the field of classified information protection.

The Academy has an institutional accreditation from the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency with an assessment of 9.06, valid until 06.10.2022.

The Academy is certified by the Lloyd Register for compliance with the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System with validity until July 26, 2021.

The scope of approval is applicable to:

Education and acquisition of higher education with Masters and PhD degrees; Specialized training for managerial responsibilities at the tactical, operational and strategic levels of commanding and control of the Armed forces, the Ministry of Defense, the State administration, NATO structures and multinational missions; Research and analytical work in the fields of security and defense.

The Military Academy represents the Republic of Bulgaria at the Conference of the Chiefs of the Military Academies of the NATO Member States and the Consortium of the Military Academies and the Security Studies Institutes under the Peace Partnership Program.
