What is a cooperative?
According to the Law on Cooperatives a cooperative is an association of individuals with variable capital and variable number of members, who perform commercial activities through mutual assistance and cooperation aimed at meeting their economic, social and cultural interests. Cooperatives are legal entities registered under the Law on Cooperatives.
A cooperative may be established in Bulgaria by at least 7 active individuals by virtue of resolution made at a Founding Meeting. The Founding Meeting adopts the Statutes and elects the President of the cooperative, the Management Board and the Supervisory Board.
