In accordance with the requirements of delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/137, the new European Classification of Economic Activities NACE Rev. 2.1, and the corresponding national version, KID-2025, which is fully harmonized with it, entered into force for the 2025 reporting year. 

The non-financial enterprises include all sections by NACE Rev. 2.1 with the exception of ‘Financial and insurance activities’, ‘Public administration and defence, compulsory social security’, ‘Activities of membership organisations’ and ‘Activities of households’.

Due to significant differences in sectoral structure compared to the previously used KID-2008 classification, a comparison with prior years is not applicable.

Data on the activity of the non-financial enterprises in 2025 are presented in levs, as they pertain to the final year before Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone.

Annual reports on their activity for 2025 were submitted at the National Statistical Institute (NSI) by 484 201 non-financial enterprises, which was 2.5% higher compared to 2024. The number of persons employed1 in full-time equivalent in the non-financial enterprises was 2 284 729, or 2.1% higher than the previous year.

The largest was the share of non-financial enterprises in the service sector, followed by the ‘Trade’ and ‘Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing’. The service sector also accounted for the largest relative share of all  employed persons in the non-financial sector, fillowed by the ‘Industry’ and ‘Trade’.

In 2025 the value of output at current prices amounted to 333 153 million BGN, as the largest share had the service sector - 35.6%. 

At the same time, the value of output per employed person was highest in the construction sector.

The non-financial enterprises reported a positive financial result of 43 644 million BGN with enterprises in the services sector making the most significant contribution.
