On August 15, a meeting was held at the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) between Hristina Kasparyan, Head of the “Foreign Economic Cooperation” Center at BIA, chief expert of the Center Miryana Nedeva, and the newly appointed trade representatives at the Trade and Economic Affairs Offices (TEAO) abroad – Atanas Nenov in Kazakhstan and Biser Hristov in Montenegro. Both will officially assume their posts at the beginning of September.
The discussions focused on the economic relations between Bulgaria and the two countries, as well as the potential for Bulgarian companies to enter these markets.
In the conversation with the TEAO in Kazakhstan, Hristina Kasparyan highlighted Bulgaria’s untapped potential for business cooperation in sectors such as cosmetics, textiles, robotics and automation, tourism, and others. Atanas Nenov emphasized the opportunities for Bulgarian firms to benefit from the favorable business conditions in Kazakhstan’s free economic zones. He also stressed the importance of Bulgarian companies participating in trade fairs to increase the visibility of Bulgarian products and services.
During the discussion with the TEAO in Montenegro, Biser Hristov pointed out that there are numerous opportunities for business cooperation in automation, tourism, and IT services. Opportunities for university partnerships and academic exchange between the two countries were also considered. Hristov underlined that Montenegro offers favorable conditions for Bulgarian businesses, including quick market entry and the development of joint projects.
The meeting confirmed the potential of Kazakhstan and Montenegro to deepen their economic ties with Bulgaria. Priority areas for cooperation, in addition to tourism, include the IT sector, electronics, and automation—fields where innovative technological solutions are sought, and which Bulgarian companies can successfully provide. Specific steps for cooperation between BIA and the TEAOs in both countries were outlined.
