We have a normally functioning market; the market clash is shaped by the commercial interaction between supply and demand. We have no external influences. This was stated by Vladimir Ivanov, Chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets.

“After May 20, cataclysms were predicted, but they did not occur. Yet again, the market mechanism shows that it may well be the best regulator,” he added.

For her part, Yana Stratieva from the “Food and Beverages – Bulgaria” Association expressed serious concerns about the draft Supply Chain Act, which she believes could lead to shortages of goods and real speculation. “This law aims to redistribute profit along the supply chain and will result in a lack of goods on the market,” Stratieva warned.

“Guaranteeing a 10% profit for producers is unprecedented and will have a negative impact,” she also said. In her words, “the market will not only fail to stabilize, but will become distorted.”

Regarding the draft law, Ivanov noted: “I would not allow myself to comment on the bill in such a way. Let the debates conclude, and then we can discuss it. But it is a fact that there is a problem with distribution along the chain – from the producer to the end point.”
