Commentary by Shteryo Nozharov for Nova news
Inflation in Bulgaria will be around 4 - 5% throughout 2024 against 2 - 2.5% in most European countries. This is what the economist Adrian Nikolov said on the air of NOVA NEWS. He clarified that the year will be calmer than the last four, but will not approach the 2015-2019 period, when prices have remained at the same level.
According to BIA's economic adviser Shteryo Nozharov, annual inflation in our country will be between 3.8 and 4.8%. "In the euro area it will remain around 2.7%. The BNB cut the key interest rate by one basis point, which shows that inflation is not expected to be out of control. The ECB is likely to lower the base rate, albeit slightly. In the euro area and in Europe we expect a mild recession, which will affect Bulgaria with a controlled inflation," he added.
According to him, our country will probably be accepted in the euro area from 1 January 2025. In our case there is a possibility that it will administratively fall to 3.8%," Nozharov said.
