On 12 October 2023, an international conference on "Arbitration in Southeast Europe" was held in Vienna. The aim was to trace the transformation of arbitration proceedings in the SEE countries, avoiding the shortcomings of procedures in national courts and promoting arbitration proceedings, as well as to highlight new trends in out-of-court dispute resolution.
The conference was attended by representatives from various countries in the region - Romania, Turkey, Serbia, Albania, Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria. Bulgaria was represented in the fourth panel of the conference ("Ask the Arbitration Institutions") by the participation of the chairwoman of the Court of Arbitration (CA) at the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) - Prof. Tanya Yosifova.
Professor. Yosifova presented to the audience the activities of the AC at the BIA regarding the types of cases that are decided by the court, the e-mediation platform that allows the application of mediation entirely online, the tariff for arbitration fees and their ratio with the state fees, the influence of COVID in the arbitration cases, the ratio of women-men in the selection of arbitrators to decide cases, the existence of a panel of international arbitrators, etc.
The conference was of interest to lawyers, arbitrators, counsel and legal practitioners interested in contemporary arbitration issues.
