Representatives of Bulgarian industry want more clarity on the future of the sector in relation to the green deal. This was pointed out during a round table "European zero emission regulations. Turning Bulgaria's challenges into a successful development path", which took place in the old building of the National Assembly. The round table is the first joint initiative of BAMI and MEP Radan Kanev, with institutional support of the Bulgarian Industrial Association.
An Industrial Strategy of Bulgaria should be created to give the industry an idea of what will happen in the coming years. This is what the president of the Bulgarian Industrial Association Dobri Mitrev said. In his words, a plan should be made until 2050. You have to make a plan by 2050, not wait until the next government," Mitrev said. He said such a plan would provide clarity on where our country can position itself. He suggested that a national body should be set up to map where raw materials are available in the country, to check the possibilities for processing, and what manpower would be needed.
Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of the Metallurgical Industry Nikola Rangelov said that a transition should be made that would not burden the industry but help it. He pointed out that the metallurgical sector produces 15 percent of Bulgaria's annual GDP and its output accounts for 12-14 percent of exports.
