"In the European Union we remain in last place. We have a GDP per capita three times lower than the average EU country, but we have 10 times lower GDP than the richest countries." This is what Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shteryo Nozharov, lecturer at the UNWE and economic advisor at the Bulgarian Industrial Association said for NOVA NEWS.
Romania is second to last, it is slightly better than us, he added.
"There are forces in Bulgaria who think that our place is not in Europe, but being in the EU leads to a stable increase in incomes," said Deyan Vassilev, deputy chairman of the Association of Credit Intermediaries in Bulgaria. There is pressure on our banks to increase their interest rates, he added.
