Following last week’s European Council, energy ministers will discuss tomorrow in Luxembourg the recently tabled proposals and possible further measures. BusinessEurope calls on the European Commission and Member States to urgently propose and agree on a proposal to temporarily decouple electricity prices from gas prices.
BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer said:
“Some progress has been made at the EU summit last week. We now need a game-changer proposal to quickly and effectively lower the energy bill for companies. A temporary EU-wide measure to decouple electricity prices from gas prices is urgently needed. EU business cannot afford to wait much more as future investment decisions are at stake at this very moment.”
