"We insist on the ceiling of the compensation for electricity of BGN 250 either to fall or to increase its value. We are rightly worried about the high prices on the market, but there is also a note of optimism because gas supplies have not stopped. Business is ready to take over part of the burden of the crisis and swallow some things. We are all in the same boat and have to row in one direction." This was stated by the President of BIA Dobri Mitrev.
According to him, in the crisis situation, the most important thing is to reassure people that the government will continue to compensate for high electricity prices in April. "Starting tomorrow, we will sit down with the Ministry of Economy and the EWRC to look for a sustainable mechanism for trade agreements. The day-ahead platform is a speculative market, for us to know what electricity prices will be for a long time," he said. He added that the war in Ukraine brings uncertainty.
"We must learn to anticipate and manage crises, and panic to turn into a sober assessment of the situation," Mitrev urged. He clarified that where there is no resource for the production of raw materials, it is normal to stop work.
According to him, there were unthinkable and shocking electricity prices. "Stagflation means galloping prices for everything and a highly stagnant economy. This is the most unpleasant scenario, which includes bankruptcies and mass impoverishment of the nation, insecurity and social tensions," the expert explained.
