Educational competency models of one bachelor's degree - "Data Analysis", and four master's programs - "Industrial and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology", "Intelligent Analytics", "Medical Physics" (in English) and "Chemistry of the Future" (in English), were developed by a team of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, in partnership with Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, within the project “MODERN-A: MODERNIZATION in partnership through digitalization of the Academic Ecosystem”, funded by the Operational Program “Science and Education for Smart Growth”.

The introduction of the competence approach enables education and business to "speak the same language" and marks the beginning of a new, interdisciplinary approach that focuses on learning outcomes and the acquisition of competences that then allow students to acquire and apply knowledge.

In parallel with the development of competency models, the project partners initiated a change in the National Classification of Occupations and Positions (NCAP), which would include the position "Physicist, Medical Physics". From February 1 this year change is a fact! This, on the one hand, will help to establish the profession of "Medical Physicist" in Bulgaria and to synchronize the Bulgarian legislation with European criteria and recommendations in this field, and on the other hand - will expand the areas in which master graduates are realized.

The team of the Bulgarian Industrial Association is working with two other universities to create competency-based programs in sought-after specialties in the labor market - Technical University - Sofia and Thracian University - Stara Zagora, as a result of which will be developed an additional 10 new educational competency models of new curricula.
