The Bulgarian Industrial Association withdraws its support for the EGO Awards.
The Chairman of BIAs' Management Board, Dobri Mitrev, refused to participate as part of the "EGO Awards" jury and withdrew BIAs' institutional support as a partner of the initiative.
The justification is the advertising messages used in the recruitment campaign. The slogan with which the awards were presented at first was "Business Awards of Bulgaria", but the advertising campaign runs with the punch line "Modesty is for the losers" and "You owe me your success - your Ego".
These slogans are contrary to the organization's values and offensive to our members, who owe their success primarily to their knowledge and hard work. We believe that modesty is more attractive than unjustified high self-esteem and do not accept that people who do not participate in paid competitions are "losers."
For the first time in its 42-year history, BIA has withdrawn its partnership from an initiative that we initially perceived as beneficial for the Bulgarian business as an opportunity to present good practices and examples.
We apologize to our members and thank them for their hard work and morals rather than their ego!
